INFORMATION SHEET

FORMAT

The tournament is a two (2) person team 18-hole net Four-Ball (aka Best Ball) and 18-hole Scramble Stroke Play tournament played at Green Island Country Club and Maple Ridge Golf Club courses. The tournament has 9 flights with no more than 8 teams per flight.

 

                  Best Ball:  Green Island Course. Both players receive 85% of their course handicap.  (USGA Recommendation)

                  Scramble:  Maple Ridge Course. Low player receives 35% of course handicap.  High player receives 15% of course handicap index capped at 32 (to the nearest tenth place). Each team must use a minimum of seven (7) tee shots from each player!

SCHEDULE

Tuesday, October 2: 9:00 AM Shotgun start at both courses.

Flights 1-5 play at the Maple Ridge Course

Flights 6-9 play at the Green Island Course

Wednesday, October 4:  8:30 AM Shotgun start at Maple Ridge, 9:00 AM at Green Island

Flights 1-5 play at the Green Island Course

Flights 6-9 play at the Maple Ridge Course

Driving Ranges will open 90 minutes prior to tee off both days.

SCORING

Scoring will be performed at both courses in the Green Island Golf Genius environment. Live Scoring will be required at both courses; the official score is the paper scorecard.  One player must do the live scoring and two players will keep the official scorecards.  Maximum Score of 12 (gross) will apply for this competition. Players are responsible for posting their own Best Ball score to GHIN. 

Paper scoreboards will be prepared at Green Island on Day 2, outside near the patio.  Electronic scoreboards, if available, will be at Green Island on Day 2 to display scores and standings.  Players can also access scores and standings on the Tournament Portal on their phones or other electronic devices.

TOURNAMENT/FLIGHT WINNERS

Tournament Champions—Team with the overall lowest 2-day team net score. They will be lifted from their flight.

Flight Winners -1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

TIES

In the case of a tie for the team championship, there will be a hole-by-hole sudden-death playoff (Best Ball format) starting at Hole #18 at the Green Island Course. The playoff will continue on Hole #18 until a winner is determined.

Ties for flight prizes will be determined by the USGA recommended procedure:  Best Ball score cards will be compared to determine the best net score for holes 10-18; if necessary, scores on 13-18, then 16-18. If still tied, the winner will determine by comparing Best Ball scorecards starting with the 18th hole working backwards.

AWARDS

Awards Presentation will be held immediately following the competition on Wednesday in the Grand Ballroom at Green Island Country Club.  Hors d’oeuvres and snacks will be served; beverages can be purchased. A photographer will be taking pictures of all winners.

RULES

  • THE PREFERRED LIE RULE IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT FOR THIS TOURNAMENT UNLESS CONDITIONS WARRANT ADOPTION.  ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE MADE IF RULE IS IN EFFECT

  • Cell phone usage is not permitted except for emergency situations.  EXCEPTIONS: Distance measuring features, Rules of Golf lookups, weather information, and Golf Genius live scoring.

FOOD/BEVERAGE

A beverage cart with snacks and beverages will be available on both days.  Maple Ridge (credit cards and cash).  Green Island (cash only).  Both courses have grills open: MR 11-3:00 p.m.  GI 11 -5:00 p.m.
