2023 SPRING TOURNAMENT PRINT APPLICATION (PDF)

FORMAT

Competition will consist of 36 holes of Individual Stroke Play. Maximum score is 12 on any hole for the tournament. Players receive 95% of their course handicap to determine Net Champion. Woodmont will be played from the Green/Gold Combo Tees. BridgeMill will be played from the Green Tees.

Flights will be determined by handicap index and will consist of no more than eight (8) players in each flight. Trophies will be awarded to overall low gross Champion, Runner Up, Super Senior, and Net Champion winners. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th prizes will be awarded to winners in each flight. In case of a tie for the Championship, Super Senior (70+), or Net Champion, there will be a hole-by-hole (sudden-death format) playoff starting at Hole #1 at Woodmont. Ties for flight prizes shall be determined by the USGA recommended procedure: Round 2 scorecards will be compared to determine the best score for the last nine holes (10-18); then, if necessary, the last six holes (13-18), then holes 16-18. If still tied, we will determine the winner by using Round 2 scorecards starting with the 18th hole and working backward.

 

HANDICAP INDEX

Handicap Indexes as of April 24, 2023, will be used to create flights. Players’ indexes will be capped at 32. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to adjust a member’s Handicap Index when deemed appropriate. Players must have a minimum of 15 scores posted within the last 12 months. If not, player will be notified when application is received, and application will be put on hold until rounds are played and posted. The last day to post scores is Sunday, April 23, 2023.

 

ENTRY

The tournament is limited to the first 224 golfers who send in a completed entry form along with their entry fee of $235.00. Notification of tournament acceptance will be sent by email. Mailed entries must be received by April 17, 2023. Online/Email entries CLOSE at midnight on April 17, 2023. If more than 224 approved applications are received, the extra entries will be placed on a wait list. Should a vacancy occur, the earliest applicant(s) will be notified of acceptance via phone call or email. All checks received from applicants who did not make the field will be shredded; online payments will be refunded via PayPal minus the processing fee.

 

CANCELLATION

Any cancellations must be received by Amy Brown prior to 5:00 PM ET on Sunday, April 23, 2023, to receive a refund. No refunds (no exceptions) will be issued after this date and time. Amy Brown may be contacted via cell (770-570-9512) or email (tournament@gswga.org).

 

FEE INCLUDES

Cart & Green Fees, Range Balls (both days), Welcome Reception with Appetizers, Dinner, Snacks after golf on Wednesday, Tee Gift, Prizes and Awards. Cash bar is available at Welcome Reception and after golf.

 

CADDIES / SPECTATORS / CARTS

Caddies are not permitted during GSWGA events. Spectators are allowed but must stay on the cart path, observe the rules and etiquette of golf, not give advice, nor interfere with or delay play. Spectators may not carry personal items for a player or assume the role of caddy. Spectator carts are not permitted.

PRACTICE ROUNDS

You may schedule rounds after notification of tournament acceptance. Tee times are subject to availability. Woodmont (770-345-9260): starting April 11th – May be booked 7 days in advance. Mon-Thu anytime, Fri-Sun after 12 PM. Cost is $39 inclusive. BridgeMill (770-345-5500): starting April 1, 2023 – May be booked 7 days in advance. M-Th: anytime, Fri-Sun: after 12 pm. Mention that you are playing in GSWGA tournament when calling to book tee time. Cost is $47 inclusive.

SCORECARDS

TURN IN YOUR SCORECARD at the Scoring Table to the GSWGA board member collecting scorecards. At this time, you will be asked to certify/sign your scorecard. Paper scorecard must be turned in before leaving the course. Live-Scoring will be used at both courses. One person in the group must keep the online scores for the group.

AWARDS

AWARDS PRESENTATION, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING COMPLETION OF SECOND DAY PLAY, WILL BE HELD AT WOODMONT IN THE MAIN DINING ROOM. GRAB AND GO SNACKS WILL BE AVAILABLE ALONG WITH LIMITED MENU ITEMS FOR PURCHASE (CASH OR CREDIT CARD).
